Welcome

The southern floodplain of river Leine is a landscape between lake Maschsee and Ruthe that was shaped by ice ages and regular floods. In addition, numerous ponds and pools were created by gravel and clay mining.

Many rare plants and animals have settled here because of the special living conditions, such as wet meadows, remnants of floodplain forest and bodies of water. Due to this biodiversity, the Leinemasch is a nature reserve.

At the stations you can get to know selected animals and plants. Here you will receive accompanying text in various languages.
